The event on April 12th is at the Hamagawa Gymnasium (高崎市浜川体育館). The closest station is Kita-Takasaki (北高崎) station on the Shin-Etsu line. From there it's about a 50-minute walk, or you can take a taxi. However, Kita-Takasaki is a very small station so you might not be able to get a taxi. It might be best to go to Takasaki (高崎) station, which is much bigger and is on many train lines including the shinkansen (bullet train). From there it's about 20 minutes by taxi or bus. If you take the bus from Takasaki station, go to the West Exit platform #2. Get off at Keidai-fuzokukouko iriguchi (経大附属高校入口). From there it's about a 10-minute walk. We recommend showing your sumo ticket to the driver to make sure you are on the correct bus.
The event begins at 9:00am and finishes at 3:00pm, but you can arrive at any time. Here are the details (times are approximate):
9:00am - open practice for wrestlers
12:00pm - lower division matches, comic sumo performance, drums
1:30pm - upper division ring entrance ceremony and matches
3:00pm - bow-twirling ceremony, end of event
No shoes are allowed in the venue. Bring your own slippers. You can buy them in convenience stores.
Ringside and 2-person Box are sitting on the floor and come with souvenir cushion.
Children 2 years old and younger don't need a ticket if they don't need their own seat. Children 5 years old and younger may not sit in Ringside 'S' at all.
Food/Souvenir Set contains a boxed lunch, green tea and some souvenirs. You can add them to your cart along with your seat ticket. Food sales on the day of the event will be limited, so we advise buying in advance if you want to eat at the event. These sets do not include a ticket to enter the event.
Ticket prices include our service fee (2,000 yen for entry tickets, 500 yen for Sets) and payment fees (about 3% of ticket price).
